Education terms can be confusing, yet they represent important concepts critical for all educators to understand. Knowing these terms and being able to employ research-based instructional strategies are essential skills for teachers, school guidance counselors, administrators, paraprofessionals, ancillary service providers, and administrators. This course includes, but is not limited to, unlocking the abbreviations, IEP, 504, RtI, ADHD, EF, ABA, ASD, LD, IDEA, ADA, PBIS, and UDL. 

Instructional strategies, which ones to use, when and with whom, are discussed and practiced.  Examples of strategies include, but are not limited to: scaffolding, differentiated instruction, modeling, activating prior knowledge, motivational techniques, assessment (formative and summative), project-based, and re-teaching. 

This course helps participants develop strategies for effective schooling for students with disabilities and the instruction of students with diverse learning styles. 

The course is discussion based on reading/video/websites provided within the course site or through Whittemore Online Library.
