Mood Disorders and Anxiety in the Classroom

This course is designed to introduce teachers to mood disorders and anxiety disorders, to investigate how these disorders impact students in the classroom, and to discuss methods of assessment and intervention strategies. Throughout the course , students will learn about the DSM diagnoses that are classified as mood disorders and anxiety disorders. Students will learn about intervention models that can be utilized with individual students as well as curriculum that can be implemented in whole class settings. The content of this course aligns with MA Health Frameworks Social Emotional Strand, specifically learning standards 5.6, 5.7, 5.8, 5.10, 5.11, and 5.17.
