Social Effects of Media on Children

This course will explore the role of media in the lives of children and adolescents. The course will cover three areas: 1.) how the media impacts children socially, 2) Popular television shows, websites, and print that is at the forefront of the media environment. 3). Media policy issues, parent controls, and advocacy. Through class discussion, reflection, readings, and assignments, students will examine the impact of media outlets on children in America.
