Make technology an integral element of curriculum learning for Natural History. Native birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates will be researched. Practice accessing, using, and critically evaluating services such as the World Wide Web, file transferring, importing graphics and data. Practice using Web browsers, customizing browsers, and locating resources for specific curriculum needs. Develop ideas for educational projects by incorporating the Internet into curriculum. We will explore the web and the graphics available through various web providers. We will design curriculum projects using computer and the web for paste-up lettering, clip art, creative designs, borders and topic information. Inserting digital photography into curriculum projects will be introduced. The class will create and present natural history curriculum related projects, and share ideas and knowledge relating to the products. Fieldwork experiences will be experienced. This course is designed in accordance with the Department of Education’s Benchmark Standards, providing basic technology training, which is required by all teachers. This course will provide educators with new ideas to help their own students use technology to create quality research projects importing graphics and data.
