Assessment and Identification of Learning Disabilities is for professionals who engage in the process of evaluation, identification and treatment of students with learning disabilities, including special education teachers, school psychologists and educational diagnosticians. This 36-hour course will explore past, present and modern definitions of LD. Carroll-Horn-Cattell (CHC) theory will be outlined as a guiding theoretical framework for the assessment process. Numerous achievement tests will be reviewed and practiced. Research between LD and intellectual ability will be reviewed. Participants will be exposed to a variety of case studies and will learn strategies for computer scoring, report writing and team meeting presentation.
